Powers and Responsibilities
Below is a list of general powers and responsibilities for parish councils. This list is reproduced from a Department of Environment Consultation Paper on “The Role of Parish and Town Councils in England” August 1992. It is intended only as a summary of the principal functions and not intended to be a definitive list of such functions. The powers and role of parish councils is changing and so the list is a bit out of date but still shows most of the key responsibilities. You can also download a copy by following this link.
