Falcon Rowing and Canoe Club
The Falcon Rowing and Canoe Club is a locally based not-for-profit organisation that provides opportunities for both the over-50s and young people to do water-based activities.
There are two programmes for older people, what we call our 50plus groups, although we in fact work with a wider age range than that. These two groups are for rowing. Initially it will be for groups of four friends for four sessions. These will be in wide boats are safer to use and easier to learn in. The cost will be £30 per one hour session and takes place on the River Thames close to Donnington Bridge. This is possible because we received some grants to buy stable and safe boats suitable for older people under a government scheme to get more people into active lifestyles.
For more information please contact Jon Bolton for canoeing at marjonbo@tiscali.co.uk; or Christy for the rowing at christy_amelia_job@yahoo.co.uk
Anyone in reasonable health can be catered for and times can normally be arranged with the coach to suit.
There are a range of activities for children during the summer holidays including rowing, canoeing, kayaking and sculling - please contact the above coaches for more information.
I look forward to meeting some of you...
