Council Tax
Your Council Tax bill is based on the band which was allocated to your property by the Valuation Office Agency based on its market value on 1st April 1991 and not the current market value. Properties built since then will be valued according to what they would have been valued had they already been built at the time. The Valuation Office Agency are responsible for maintaining the 'Valuation List,' which shows all of the properties in Oxford with their bands and effective dates.
The Valuation Office website allows you to check the banding of any property in England
and Wales. The Values of 1st April 1991 on which properties area based are:
Band A: Up to £40,000
Band B: £40,001 to £52,000
Band C: £52,001 to £68,000
Band D: £68,001 to £88,000
Band E: £88,001 to £120,000
Band F: £120,001 to £160,000
Band G: £160,001 to £320,000
Band H: £320,001 and Above
